About SafeHoods

We believe communities are strongest when neighbors are prepared to help each other.

Our Mission

Empowering Communities to Help Themselves

When disasters strike, the first responders are often neighbors. But without knowing what resources exist nearby, communities struggle to organize effective response.

SafeHoods was created to solve this problem. We provide a platform that helps neighborhoods catalog their collective resources, organize into manageable geographic units, and coordinate response when emergencies happen.

Our mission is simple: make every neighborhood more resilient by connecting neighbors before they need each other.

72
hours

The typical time communities must be self-sufficient after a major disaster before outside help arrives. SafeHoods helps neighborhoods prepare for those critical first hours.

The Problem We Saw

We studied disaster response and found a consistent pattern.

Invisible Resources

Your neighbor three doors down has a generator that could keep your family's medical equipment running. But you'd never know until it's too late.

Wasted Time

After disasters, valuable hours are spent figuring out who has what. When road to road communication is possible but coordination is not, help arrives late or not at all.

Lost Potential

Neighbors want to help but don't know how. The retired nurse, the electrician, the person with a truck—their skills go untapped without a system to connect needs with capabilities.

Our Values

The principles that guide everything we build.

Community First

We believe real resilience comes from neighbors helping neighbors. Technology should enable community connections, not replace them.

Privacy & Trust

We handle sensitive information about where people live and what they have. We take this responsibility seriously with robust security and transparent practices.

Simplicity

Emergency preparedness shouldn't require a training course. We design for ease of use so everyone can participate, regardless of technical ability.

Action-Oriented

Preparedness without a plan for action is just inventory. SafeHoods is designed for the moment of crisis, enabling quick decisions and effective coordination.

Why Neighborhood Preparedness Matters
